Goudomp, Senegal
In 2023, with the support of GUESS Inc., we helped fulfill a long-held dream at Goudomp 4 École Élémentaire in southern Senegal by providing school uniforms and backpacks to all students. Located in the Ziguinchor region, rich in culture but impacted by poverty and past conflict, this community had been struggling with a 76% dropout rate just months into the school year.
Our goal was simple: uplift students and families with school supplies, restore motivation, and create joy, especially during the holidays. The response was powerful. A three-day village prayer was held in gratitude, and by March 2024, dropout rates fell to 45%, while enrollment interest rose by 56%.
We’re proud of this impact, but the work continues. The school still lacks proper bathrooms, a major barrier, especially for girls. We’re committed to supporting long-term change so every child can learn with dignity and hope.
